In addition to swimming in lakes, hiking nearby mountains, feasting on lobster (or steaks from the grill) and sipping lemonade, summer is awesome for one other thing: FESTIVALS! To get the word out about WMPM, sell some t-shirts and pavers, and give kids an opportunity to experience our future exhibits, we have been a presence at both Summer Fest in Farmington, and, most recently, The Blueberry Festival in Wilton -- and what an experience! Swarms of children with their parents in tow painted on our free mobile exhibit, the three-panel acrylic wall, and somewhere in the neighborhood of thirty kids got their faces painted in exchange for donations to the museum. Every bit helps, and it was incredible to see the joy on these children's faces as they became a new creature or created their own on the wall. As one little boy told us, paintbrush in hand, "I a painter!" and that's exactly why we need to make this happen: so kids can see themselves as inventors, creators, builders, explorers and do so in a stimulating, safe space. Thank you to the local community for coming and supporting us -- and we'll see you again soon, this time at the Apple Pumpkin Festival! Ta ta for now!
